Capture Solenoidal Lens

چکیده
The 1.25 A, 40 ns electron beam is accelerated in the 200 MeV electron linac. This beam is then focused onto a 3 rom diameter spot at the 7 rom thick (i. e., two radiation length) tungsten target. By the process of multiple nuclear-scattering the target generates the positron particles. These positrons, in general, can have a large diverging angle. The empirical formula for an angular dependence of the positron yield can be written as:

Preliminary studies on neutrino factories use solenoids at different stages. Often quoted is the adiabatic device, a long solenoid with a slowly decreasing field used to capture pions behind the target. In cooling sections as well, design reports show lattices using solenoids with alternating field to contain the beam. This note describes the transverse behaviour of charged particles in a solen...
متن کاملA Solenoidal Capture System For Neutrino Production
This paper describes the use of a high field solenoidal magnet to capture secondary pions from the production target. The captured pions subsequentially decay to produce the neutrino beam. A pion capture system using a high field solenoid magnet has been proposed for the muon collider[1]. This technology would also be available for neutrino beam production. It will be shown that a high field so...
متن کاملPathogenesis of pupillary capture after posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation.
Pupillary capture is an unusual complication of posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation and may occur in the early or late postoperative period. We describe a series of patients with early or late onset pupillary capture and describe the pathogenesis. Early capture results from mechanical factors and is usually preventable. Late capture may be mechanical but is usually a sequel to the f...
متن کاملImage Capture Simulation Using an Accurate and Realistic Lens Model
This paper describes a digital image capture simulator that incorporates a lens model based on point-spread function (PSF) data from a commercial lens design package. This lens model has significant advantages over a simple MTF based model, because it accounts for all image degrading aberrations commonly encountered in image capture systems. Lens design data in the form of a set of highly resol...
متن کاملAlmost invariant manifolds for divergence-free fields
It is shown that toroidal surfaces that extremize a properly weighted surface integral of the squared normal component of a solenoidal three-vector field capture the local invariant dynamics, in that a field line that is anywhere tangential to the surface must be confined to the surface everywhere. In addition to an elementary three-vector calculus derivation, which relies on a curvilinear toro...
